One Year of Home Alchemy: Collections, Scents, and What’s Next
Share
It’s reaching one year of Home Alchemy — starting from a single idea and growing into a full collection of hand-poured candles, wax melts, and decorative pieces made here in Haarlem, the Netherlands.
Over the past year, each collection has introduced new scents, formats, and designs, all centered around creating atmosphere, everyday rituals, and thoughtful gifts across the Netherlands and Europe.
My Flagship Collection: The Alchemy of Harmony
My journey began with the Alchemy of Harmony collection — a candle collection inspired by music and the idea of setting the tone for everyday moments. This collection introduced:
Among these, No.3 Intermezzo quickly became a best-selling candle. I only had an online presence at the time, so I thought it was just because of the alluring green label, yet it continues to be a customer favorite thanks to its balanced, versatile scent.
Expanding into Design: Ceramic Bowls
I wanted to offer something beyond the classic glass candle so my next step was expanding to something that would give Home Alchemy an identity. That's when I introduced my ceramics — designed without labels and created to blend seamlessly into any interior.
These candles introduced a more minimal, design-focused approach to home fragrance. Fun fact, women (including myself) tend to be drawn towards the crescent-shaped candle, while men always choose the large bowl candle.
My second collection: The Alchemy of Indulgence
Alongside new vessels came the Alchemy of Indulgence collection — fragrances inspired by moments of everyday luxury.
This collection includes:
Bestsellers from this collection are No.5 Riviera and No.8 Kasjmier, each known for its warm, inviting, and distinctive scent profiles.
And my seasonal collection: Comfort & Joy
The Comfort and Joy collection marked the holiday season, introducing:
And, while created for winter, No.9 Alpenglow has remained a strong seller beyond the holiday season due to its fresh mountainy scent.
My most recent collection: An Ode to the Netherlands
To show my love for my adopted country, An Ode to The Netherlands celebrates local inspiration and design. It began with the single Tulip candle, which has since evolved into a full bouquet. This collection also includes the iconic Dutch canal houses (Hollandse huisjes) — candles designed to reflect familiar Dutch architecture colorfully and aesthetically.
One year in, Home Alchemy continues to grow — expanding collections, refining scents, and exploring new ideas while staying rooted in thoughtful design and everyday usability.
